Merlin Küntzel, The Squirrel
Greetings from the Kitchen
Born and raised in Kreuzberg, there is nothing that could shake Merlin’s world. But don’t expect to hear typical Berliner twang coming out of his mouth. Unless he is freestyling to hip-hop, Merlin is always polite and courteous.
After completing his education, Merlin jumped straight into retail and eventually completed an apprenticeship as a sales representative. He went on to gain experience in a Friedrichshain call center, a burger shop, and in the event logistics department of a beach volleyball hall. Sent to us by a temporary employment agency specializing in gastronomy, Merlin’s varied skills and reliable and friendly nature, coupled with his “hands-on” mentality quickly made him our favorite employee.
Fortunately, he did not reject our offer for a full-time seat in the house of wild. That makes Merlin the master of our – not so wild, anymore – storeroom. He makes sure that furniture, kitchen equipment, drinks, and of course our wild delicacies are always in the right place at the right time.
And when he’s not playing Tetris in our storeroom, he likes to play Playstation at home. Or he plays football in a traditional football club in Kreuzberg known as the “THC Franziskaner FC.” Originally initiated by punks and squatters in the “Franziskaner Kneipe,” today, the THC still stands for “unity, diversity, friendship, participation, and self-determination.”
Merlin loves everything that has to do with meat and barbecue. He appreciates a delicious burger, as well as a juicy steak. He and his best friends make it a tradition to get together over a couple of medium rare steaks. They become somewhat of „regulars“ at the Block House.
